Let us handle the skinning

Not sure how to look after an animal you are planning to have mounted? Our professional skinners can accompany your hunt so that every animal is expertly caped, salted and tagged on the day it is taken.

It is the simplest way to protect the work you have travelled a long way to do, and it removes any guesswork about whether a cape will hold up.

What happens in the field decides the mount

The quality of your finished mount, and of any raw prep hide, is largely determined before the animal ever reaches us. A few things make the biggest difference:

  • Do not drag an animal over rough terrain — it damages hair and skin.
  • Gut, bleed and cape as soon as possible after the shot.
  • Keep the cape cool, and freeze or refrigerate it if it cannot be prepared properly straight away.
  • Never salt a cape until all meat has been removed, the ears turned and the lips split.

Please note that we cannot accept liability for hair loss caused by poor field preparation.
